May 2025: The 26th edition of this prestigious ITG-Fachtagung brought together leading experts from academia and industry to discuss the latest advancements in optical communications, high-speed networks, and emerging photonic architectures. The award highlights the exceptional quality of research conducted at the institute, specifically within the BMFTR-funded research project "OPTIMUX".

The award-winning poster, titled "2.88 Tbit/s Single-Carrier Transmission Over 150 km of Randomly-Coupled Four-Core Fiber," showcases the potential of combining space-division multiplexing (SDM) with high-symbol-rate transmission. By utilizing specifically tailored digital signal processing algorithms - such as a joint blind clock recovery algorithm that exhibits high tolerance to both spatial- and polarization-mode dispersion - a pre-FEC bit error ratio below 1⋅10⁻³ has been achieved across all channels. These findings pave the way for robust, high-performance optical communication systems essential for next-generation data networks.
