June 2023: SilOriX, founded by Dr.-Ing. Carsten Eschenbaum, Prof. Dr. Christian Koos and Dr. Adrian Mertens in collaboration with the IPQ has won the 3rd prize of the KIT Neuland Innovation Competition in the category: Transfer Prize.

The IPQ spin-off SilOriX develops powerful, highly efficient and scalable electro-optical modulators for optical communication and signal processing. By selectively combining highly scalable silicon photonic circuits with highly efficient organic electro-optic materials, SilOriX can address a wide range of applications, from optical communications in large data centers, to xHaul for 5G and 6G communication networks, quantum technologies, as well as broadband electro-optic metrology. The work of SilOriX builds on the know-how of more than a decade of scientific research in the field of hybrid electro-optical modulators at the KIT.
