CLEO 2023 Post-Deadline Paper

First Demonstration of a cryogenic Silicon Organic Hybrid (SOH) Mach-Zehnder Modulator with a Sub-1V π-Voltage
 IPQ

May 2023: Only a small number of post-deadline submissions are accepted for presentation by a panel of experts at the CLEO 2023, and those papers represent the latest groundbreaking technical achievements in the field of optical communications.
"First Demonstration of a cryogenic Silicon Organic Hybrid (SOH) Mach-Zehnder Modulator with a Sub-1V π-Voltage"  (paper number: STh5C.7)  was the title of the paper, IPQ PhD candidate Adrian Schwarzenberger submitted.

Utilizing novel chromophores, researchers from the IPQ were able to demonstrate the first sub-Volt Mach-Zehnder modulator at cryogenic temperature. Using the device line, rated up to 100 Gbit/s OOK and 140 Gbit/s PAM4, data transmission could be demonstrated at 11K ambient temperature. Based on these findings, a post-deadline paper written by PhD candidate Adrian Schwarzenberger was accepted at the CLEO 2023.
